Have questions?

Ask me anything!

First, here are some of the most common questions I get:

Where should we do our session?

I have a long list of suggestions for locations around Dallas and surrounding areas. As we plan your session we can talk about what look you want and what’s convenient for your family. Or consider your own home! Home is usually where kids are most comfortable & happiest.

Wait, did you say my house?? What if my house is a boring/a mess/doesn’t look like a magazine?

Your home doesn’t have to look perfect in order to be an amazing, special location for your family photos! I promise that when your kids look back on the photos taken in your home, they will be brought back to their childhood and the special memories they have in your house. I firmly believe it’s so important to have some family photos made in your home, where your children are loved, surrounded by their familiar things and spaces.

What’s the difference between Lifestyle & Day in the Life photos?

Lifestyle photos are a mix of casual portraits and candid photos with some direction and posing. Day in the Life sessions involve no posing or direction; I’ll document your family’s everyday life and capture real photos of you doing your regular thing!

What session length do you recommend for young children?

If you want a good amount of casual photos that capture all of the bonds of your family, or if you want a lot of photos, or if your child needs extra time to warm up, choose a longer session. If you really just want a few updated family photos and you know your kids won’t tolerate longer than 30 minutes, a mini session might be a good fit for you.

What if my kids are crazy during our session?

They might be, and that’s 100% ok!! Kids do not need to be perfect at your family session. Kids need to feel comfortable being themselves so we can get those beautiful, real photos of everyone enjoying being together. We’ll laugh and play games, I’ll run around and be ridiculous, and we can take brief little breaks if we need to. I promise that no matter how crazy your kids seem to you, we will get plenty of great photos.

What if we’re awkward in photos?

As someone who feels VERY awkward in photos, I understand why you might worry - but please try not to! It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous in the first few minutes of your session, but soon you’ll be focused more on your kids than being in front of the camera. My job is to create beautiful photos of your family. Your job is to hug & love your kiddos and just enjoy your time together. Try to have fun and let me worry about posing and getting real smiles!

Do you edit our photos?

Yes! In order to give you beautiful photos to keep forever, every picture I take goes through a process. Each proof image that you see has been edited for color and contrast. All of the final images that I deliver will be fully color corrected and enhanced with minor distractions removed when possible (such as blemishes or stray hairs).

Do we get every picture that you take?

No, because trust me, you don’t want every single picture! I take plenty of extra pictures in case anyone is blinking or making a weird face. I spend time removing duplicates and selecting only the most flattering pictures so that you’ll get the very best ones.

What’s the best age for newborn sessions?

Oooh, good question! Any age between 4 days and 2 months is considered a newborn session, and any time in that range is truly perfect! If you want very sleepy, tiny, squishy baby photos, book a session within the first 2 weeks of life. But an older newborn will be more alert, be more interactive, and start to show more personality. And those are all amazing things to capture!

When should we do maternity photos?

Maternity sessions are best done between 7-8 months, when you’re showing but before you get uncomfortable. If you’re having multiples, you may want to do them sooner depending on your comfort level and how much you’re showing.

When and how do we receive our images?

Mini, newborn, and family lifestyle images will be posted in your online gallery within 2 weeks. Day in the Life sessions take a little longer and will be ready for you in 3-4 weeks. Once your final images are in your gallery, you’ll receive a passcode to download the retouched high-resolution digital files directly from the website. You'll have permission to print your photos at any lab you choose, or you can order prints & albums from your gallery.

OK, I’m ready to book! Where do I begin? What’s the process?

Yay!! First, reach out so we can set a date. I’ll send you a contract to sign and a link to pay your deposit. The deposit is a $200 booking fee that holds your session date/time, along with the signed contract. Once I have both of those, you’re official!
